Contact SupplierShankhs or Conches are very auspicious and sacred ,In Hindu ritualism no pooja in a mandir or home is complete without blowing a shankh.A Vamvarti shankh opens towards the the left side of the shankh spiral and has a natural opening for blowing.Shankhs come in various shapes and texture. Some are small and some are very big in size.During the churning of the ocean between the devtas and the Rakshasas or asuras ,fourteen ratnas came out of the ocean, one of them being the shankh.Lakshmi Ji also came out after the churning of the ocean with mandrachal parwat as the pivot and Vasuki Nag as the rope for churning the ocean.Hence shankh is considered as the brother of lakshmi ji , also known as lakshmi sahodar. It is also known as the Devi shankh.Where ever a shankh is blown , lakshmi ji resides there . Hence keeping a shankh in the house is very auspicious and attaracts abundance in all aspects.
Shankhs come in a variety of shapes and sizes some are extinct and hence are banned under the wild life preservation act, while others are sold in market in abundance.
Shankhs have different names depending upon their physical appearance like the Devi Shankh,Vishnu Shankh, Ganesh Shankh, Gada Shankh,Shani shankh,Garuda shankh, Dakshinavarti shankh,Surya chankh, Chandra shankh, etc. A vamvarti Shankh is generally used to blow during Artis and pooja at Temples and Home ,while a Dakshinavarti shankh is kept in the pooja room as a symbol of goddess lakshmi .
